Of course, this view of homosexuality -- seeing it as a disorder to be cured -- is not new. It was cutting-edge thinking circa 1905.Whoever wrote this is my hero.
Actually the article itself is somewhat aggravating, not because of the writer, just because it deals with stupid people.
For example:
Indeed, a constant refrain among the anti-gay-marriage forces is that they are motivated not by hate but by love. That's right, folks, love.
And "homosexuality is not an innate condition but a hedonistic way of living, one devoted to partying, drugs and wanton sex that ends, often, in illness and early death." Man, all the homosexuals I know lead really boring straight lives.
But this is priceless:
Several anti-gay-marriage activists drew my attention to a study showing that since gay civil unions became legal in Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands, the rate of out-of-wedlock births in those countries has increased....I made the observation that, of all things to lay at the feet of homosexuals, the birth rate was surely not one of themNope. Homosexuals have some control over the actions of straight people who get knocked up - DUH!
One person in the article stated that "'You know the family has disappeared in those Scandinavian countries.'" Really? Who knew? Someone needs to investigate this further. So what are people doing in Scandinavia if they don't have families? Do they all live in communes? Or are they all total loners, plotting to destroy the world?
Well it's been a learning experience for me. I was completely clueless before, but now? It all makes sense (except NOT).
Edited to add this nice article about dads. Because Sunday was Father's Day.
